Introduction:
This is my first review but I have been an avid follower of the audiophile community since 2016. My first IEM was the campfire comet and I have been a fan of transportable audio ever since.
I have had the Thieaudio clairvoyance since early October 2020 and it has long become my favourite IEM for everyday carry. The IEM was purchased from my own money with the G3 plate and clear black shell colour. The design is quite sleek and Thieaudio has outdone themselves with the craftsmanship. My only gripe with the IEM itself is that the 2pin connector for the right earpiece is somewhat loose. If I am not careful when taking the IEMs off it isn't uncommon for the cable to disconnect and the IEMs to fall. Fortunately due to the tight over-ear fit of the Fiio UTWS3 this issue has been mitigated.
Fit:
The IEM's themselves are somewhat big and might pose a problem for small-sized ears. Fortunately for me, they are a perfect match for my ears and fit almost as well as customs. Currently, I am using double flange tips to get a deep fit and no part of the IEM sits outside my ears. One thing to note is that Thieaudio Monarch seems to have a different nozzle length and angle than its counterpart the clairvoyance. This might result in fit issues depending on your ear shape and the IEM in question.
Sound Impressions:
There is not much I can say about the sound that has not been already said. They work great for most genres and are quite balanced. The tuning is one of the best in its class and works best for most genres. Under the sub-$1000 market you'd be hard-pressed to find better options. It presents a warm studio response that is honestly quite addictive. The soundstage and imaging are better than average but nothing exceptional. However I have heard that the Monarch is the leaner and more technical brother. This might be a good fit for those who are fans of technicalities.
Pairing:
Currently, I am pairing them with the Fiio UTWS3 and the Acoustune AET06 Double Flange Eartips. This pairing is somewhat dark but quite musical with a great sub-bass shelf that is authoritative as it is assertive. I do not feel if I am missing any parts of the frequency response and the imaging is quite excellent. This is my favourite TWS setup currently. I feel as if there is a subwoofer in my ears.
Another pairing that works quite well is with the Ibasso CF01 with the Xelastic eartips or the Spinfits that come included with the clairvoyance. The Xelastic pose a better fit for me personally than the Spinfit with a brighter laid back response with an expanded soundstage. The Spinfts on the other hand produces an addictive bass response that is more forward with a smaller soundstage.
Conclusion:
Thieaudio has a winner on its hands that punches way above its weight class. It is an excellent pairing with most sources and produces quite a musical sound signature.
